Seriously the game is not fun online
No matter how harder i try, i spent hours in training mode learning how the game works but the fact in ranked matches are only pros is not a very enjoyable experience.

It takes one little misinput to get your lifebar destroyed, also the combos last a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of time. It's not fun watching your character getting rekt. Also the netcode is unstable as ♥♥♥♥ in 10 matches i did 7 of them are a lagfest...

great game

That's how fighting games are. You're not going to improve quickly, believe me. Tons of hours in training mode doesn't give you the knowledge needed to beat human opponents with experience. As for combos lasting a long time and watching your character get beat up, that's just something you'll have to deal with in any fighting game, so if you plan on playing them, I'd get used to them.

Ranked matches are generally not as fun as playing in longer sets with people around your level, due to the fact that it's usually only one game with someone you've never played and you have no time to adapt to what they're doing.

Plus, this game's netplay is generally kinda slow. It seems impossible to get an online match with less that 4 frames of delay, unfortunately. I wouldn't assume everyone you play has wifi, it may just be the delay-based netplay. It's best to try and play against people who live near you, and in player lobbies, not on ranked.

You have to play players in your level once you get better then you could try ranked matches; also I recommend to use the game's filter so you don't play against the same player online.

That's the main problem i can't find them sigh

I mean you haven't played the game for that long yet. It takes time to get to the mid-level, don't expect that everything will come easily with just 4 hours of play.

You've put less than five hours into the game. Take some time to learn it before hopping into ranked matches. Join the discord and find some people you can do some friendly rounds with.

Are you on an ethernet connection?

Have you tried using the UNIST discord to look for other beginners?

Okay i'm back again with some new stuff.
Apparently yeah online it's really hard to get into but i managed to get some wins after some practice. But seriously the combo system in this game is way too exaggerated.

From a low poke counter hit you get 3.6k damage? seriously i can't even get above 2.2k with my gordeau sigh

Yes and yes, actually i'm kinda active there lately.

The problem is other peeps who uses mcdonald's wifi to get online matches, it's 2019 really and peeps still don't have a fiber connection?

Dude really it's almost impossible to react to overheads online because of the netcode lag.
Also you don't have to be so rude. (hey i did a rhyme xdxd)

At least inform before launching these kind of speculations kek

I play on ethernet and my download speed is 90mbps and I can stream 1080p 60fps without drops so yeah my internet is not trash

Also SFV was on free weekend recently and I wanted to try it to see if I will like it but it's not my type. Btw yeah I'm slowly... VERY slowly learning and I managed to get 15 wins out of 90 matches, yey.

Online differs greatly from single player modes. It will require a lot of getting accustomed to how actual people play, that's why I kind of enjoy playing against stronger opponents. I don't mind losing a match if I can improve from it, and I can gain more knowledge on a match-up when playing against someone good.

I kind of wish there was an option to turn on frame delay in single player modes though. Transitioning from offline to online would be mich easier then. And local tournaments are mostly played on consoles so it would help practicing for that too.

Anyway, Kurushii Drive here has some nice character compilations on youtube. If you need some idea on how different characters are played, i reccommend checking them out. Playstyles differ though, so it might not be accurate, but just seeing how different moves are utilized is helpful enough.

You probably already know this but others may not: you can turn on frame delay in Training mode at least. I know it isn't the main modes, ideally it should be a global setting, but that's what we've got.

Also, to the OP from someone who isn't super good by any means, the single most important piece of advice I've ever received, which I attribute a huge amount of my recent skill progress:

STOP MASHING AND BLOCK.

Seriously, just that one thing will up your game far and away more than trying to learn and perform flashy combos all the time. Those are useless if you die first, or never actually get a hit in because you're mashing on recovery, which is oh so tempting, trust me, I know.

STOP MASHING AND BLOCK! :steamhappy:
