How how do i invite my steam friends into my starting area, so we can see each other and do aim train

I bought Vail for me and my friend 2 days ago and thankfully we live close to one another irl so we can find each other in matchmaking easily, but i've seen videos online of many people all hanging out in the spawn room/common area, do i have to have my friend added on meta quest too or start a custom game i'm just confused and there is nothing online i can find as a fix or solution to this, any help is greatly appreciated, sorry if this is a dumb question

Try making a custom lobby/match and make it private. Then, invite your friends.

Make a custom server (set it to picnic gamemode) and select the map as armoury. Make sure to press the lock icon to lock the server, and once it's created, tell your friend the code and they can join off the server browser. hope this helps.
