is it for free?
I have just read some of the reviews and most of the poeple reviewing this game have that "product received for free" tag and playtimes above 200 hours, how did they do it?

Those are people who've played during the beta/alpha cycles, they were able to keep the game after launch.

I've been waiting since July 2022 to get access to the playtest, without success ......, and now they want me to pay :-)

I thought f2p was the title argument, there's still 1 week the devs talking about f2p .... I'm disappointed, it's certainly not expensive, but it's the cold shower .

Yea I thought it was gonna be f2p. That was the main selling point, I felt like. Especially when Contractors and Pavlov are way more established games with more stuff.

I got access to alpha but I did not received anything after the game went in early access I only have Vail Alpha in my library, did they choose who will keep the game and who is gonna have to buy it?

During our Alpha and Beta, we gave lots of players access to the game to help us test and make the best game possible! These players got to keep access as a thank you for helping us make the game.

As for the question of the game being f2p... we at one point did want to make the game f2p, but listening to community feedback we decided that being paid was the best option to make sure we develop the best game for everyone. For example, if we were f2p, we'd have to spend more time working on monetization strategies instead of focusing on the actual game. Releasing paid allows us to work on what's important: making a fun game.

I get that, but on the other hand, why should I play your VR Shooter if there is Pavlov and Contractors both with mature modding scenes?

I love both of those games, and ONWARD especially! But my completely honest opinion is that VAIL offers something unique that none of those games have. It's hard to pinpoint any one thing, but it's a sum of all the small details that really makes the game shine. All of those games are great and I will probably still play them from time to time. But just one example, none of those games have capture the flag.
