Female protagonist overdone?

What did the guys who played this game think, does it pull on the girl card hard enough, or is female protagonist merely a strap-line (sic) or label?

At no point in the game is the protagonist's gender ever revealed as they are intended to be an avatar for the player themselves. Agent B on the other hand is most definitely a woman as seen in the post-credits cut scene.

Definitely did not come across as "avatar choice" or that Rosie "neutral" towards the player.

I actually pictured Agent A being male, and I am female. No where does the dialogue hint that Agent A is male or female. It's up to you, that's why the list of agents that are still alive don't show A's name.

That's basically what I was trying to put across, but the OP seems to have decided their own agenda is more prevalent than the evidence the game itself provides.

Perhaps making a huge assumption that an "agenda" was being pushed, but I suppose that does answer the question with a definite no. Usually it takes a bit of extra work to neuter, and that quite clearly must have been done very well and the review I read at the time I wishlisted the game, was enough to sway it for me.

It's a video game, the protagonist's gender is the last thing that should determine whether or not you should buy it or even enjoy it.

Well I don't have a choosing criteria list all nicely sorted, not sure when gender is last on any list, since that's a common accessibility barrier. But anyone who has not seen the barrier, cannot, well, see a barrier. Which was why I was asking the question originally, but from a miss-informed review that I had read. Mechanics, puzzle types, all have a role in opening up gaming to all. Glad I gave this title a go, far too many sleepers out there.

Yeah, the game explicitly states that Agent A's age & sex are unknown. Agent A can be whoever the player wants them to be.
