This was a lot of fun and funky. The puzzles may be a wee bit harder but there is help out there if you get stuck. Plus it has that fun cartoon-y style to it and it is on a big sale this week !!
(Ignore the video clips on the store page. I don't know what they are trying to do but that is not the game or style of play. Look at the reviews and screenshots and maybe some clips on-line.)

You're right, this game has a similar vibe. A bit quirky with some good dialogue.
A little late, but https://store.steampowered.com/app/352520/The_Silent_Age/ is very good and the art style is kinda similar.
This is a very good suggestion. I too enjoyed this game a lot.
