Digital Diamond Baseball V7

Using the Lahman Database
First, I know how to use it. My question...is there a way to use the database after downloading it?
I download the 'comma-delimited version' & the SQL versions so as to be able to use them without having to access the website.
Is this even possible or do I have to use the database via online for creating new libraries.

Digital Diamond Baseball includes two modified versions of the Lahman Database that can be used direclty in the game. The one named lahman2016.db does not have split stats and the one named jb-lahman2016.db does have splits. You don't have to download anything to get these to work with Digital Diamond Baseball -- they are already installed. You can create libraries with them by going to the Import/Edit Players page and then selecting Import/Generate->Import Players From The Lahman Database.

I noticed that the 2017 version of the Lahman database is now available. You cannot download that version and use it with Digital Diamond Baseball. We have to build a version of the database that works with DDBB. I will post an annoucement when that is done and available for use with DDBB.

I hope this answers your question. If not, let me know!

BTW: All of this is possible because Sean Lahman makes the database available to the public via the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License. For details see: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/.

Lahman Database
Is it possible to utilize the Lahman Database as a downloaded file? In other words, download the database ( sql, also ) then access it through the game.

No, the game uses a modifled version of the database. The database that comes with Digital Diamond Baseball is in a different format than the one you can download from Lahman's website, and it also has splits added to it.

Is it possible to create libraries from the Lahman source, and then from there, edit the libraries and change player ratings, etc. etc. ?

If you are asking if it can be done within DDBB then the answer is yes. There is a player editing screen which I happen to utilizing for my latest imagineering library.
