Its not Its still very alive its just that the Devs does not want to release it until its done.
In fact you can play it right now if you want to.

You guys have seriously fallen behind SS14 when you compare the two on github as far as commits made during the last month; SS14 has 10x as many commits (549 vs 59) and 8x as many active authors (79 vs 10) with SS14 having 3x as many additions and only half as many deletions. Granted, this is still only info from last month, but it's still relevant info.

Unitystation does have more overall commits at 18k vs 14k, but it looks like you've recently lost the spark. It's like you guys had no problem taking the lead early on, but are now slowly but surely losing the marathon. Almost as if you gased out.

I hope you bounce back, because it is a race, the first one across the finish line will take the place as the new SS13 since once either of you have consolidated the playerbase, they will be reluctant to move.

Personally, I don't have any particular favorite in this race. I'm all about the final result.

imo Who will win? openbyond, why have to rewrite all your functions and code, and add all your special features for your code base when you can just use openbyond for everything already works and it's all great, that will be the winner, as for pop between US13 and SS14, I think it will be like a Bay/TG type of scenario

The whole idea was to move away from BYOND due to how notoriously aged it is.
Only info I could find on OpenBYOND was a github project that is very much dead.

In any case, I've seen a fair rise in players on SS14 that is comparable to the amount of players that have decreased on BYOND. Some migration have been taking place. Some SS14 servers have more players than Paradise Station, which is one of the most populated BYOND servers.

As I said in my post above, I hope you guys bounce back because competition is healthy.
However, the early bird gets the worm.

My attention has currently been on SS14 due to the reasons I mentioned in my earlier post and this one. Just letting you know because I'm not the only one and you guys do need to put in a higher gear if you want to stay relevant, this is unfortunately just how it works.

It is indeed harder when the product is released for free, but the same goes for SS14 in that regard. I think it'll come down to who wants it more.

Hello, I've recently started playing SS14, could you give me a concise description of any advantages you think Unity has?

yeah, progress is good and is I would say the advantage is tile-based movement better community + having more original gameplay from ss13 e.g lava land
