There IS a reason with Hellas map, where you might win award Excentric (most resources on cards) that way, but that's it. And Hellas isn't in the steam version yet.
Based on what you said, it SEEMS to me you think resources on Olympus Conference give you points, which isn't the case.
I did read indeed the card as :
** for every science resource on this card : 1 VP
** for every science card played after this, including this, add 1 science resource to this card.
** OPTIONALLY you can instead of adding 1 science resource, at playing a science card, instead remove 1 science resource and draw a card.
-> effectively costing you 2 VP in exchance for 1 card draw
(something you in most cases NEVER want to do)
where did you see anything about the science resources on the card being worth a VP?
the text on the card I suppose was just unclear to me...
There are situations when you would not wish to trade a resource for a card right now, but wish to delay.
-CEO's Favorite Project can only add a resource to a card if there already is one. That may be in hand but you prefer to play another Science card first.
-Eccentric as mentioned above.
-The deck is about to be shuffled and you prefer the cards in the discard pile.
In any case, this card has one of many rules not correctly implemented in this version of the game.
Good points I didn't thought of, Chaney! (Although, it's yet another unfortunate thing in the Steam version that we aren't informed how many cards are still in the deck, in order to see if it's about to be reshuffled.)
