Counter-Strike: Condition Zero

Counter-Strike: Condition Zero

Why do you think this game wasn't successful?
I didn't play this game a lot, but it seemed really cool. Though Global Offensive is definitely better, the whole mission campaign in this game was great and i enjoyed it. But why wasn't this game successful? No one plays it and people often ignore it as a Counter-Strike franchise title.

This game was one of the most successful games there was... It is old as hell and a lot of people still play it.

Well here's why (No i'm not gonna bash on CS:CZ because I actually like it).

1. It was released a year before Counter-Strike: Source
2. This game is basically CS 1.7
3. All they added was new maps, a campaign, a mission mode, and official BOTs.
4. People only got back then to play the CS:S BETA.
5. The grenades did way to much damage in this game.
7. Spraying is useless in this game.
8. Wallbanging is useless in this game.
9. CS:CZ back then was a full on retail game and they charged you for it, unlike CS 1. which was free. (Even though that doesn't apply now because you can get both for $9.99)
10. The development cycle of this game was on a rollercoaster. Too many developers, rushed out somethings, released it too late.

Maybe if it was released back in 2001 or 2002,or even just an update for 1.6 the game would be a lot more successful. All this game is 1.6 with better textures, but terrible gameplay change decisions.

Maybe if they made the dropdown list of Mission Packs bigger to fit more custom mission packs, it would've been heaps better.

Another thing is that people generally play games like this for the online multiplayer, not to mess with bots all the time.

Unfortunetly, the multiplayer for this is slowly dying. People still play it, but it's a pretty low player count. I don't consider a game "dead" unless it has under 100 people playing it. This game gets around 2.5k daily.

This game was pricey when it came out if I remember right and most people saw it as not worth it. The original Counter-Strike was still popular at the time that this came out. This wasn't that successful. It also came out not long before Counter-Strike Source came out and everyone knew at the time that Counter-Strike: Source was coming.
