[Solved] How to host Counter Strike: Condition Zero in Steam
I was able to and have been hosting local Condition Zero server which shows up in Steam Server list and my friends can connect to it. I keep it password protected so that I play with my friends only. So, here you go.

You will need two things.
1. Port forwarding (for this you have to run Steam via router. I am not sure how you can do this via hotspot connected to a mobile. However, if someone finds the way, please post here for others.)

2. In the Condition Zero console you have to type sv_lan 0 to allow your friends to join, everytime you host the server.

In details....

1. Please watch this video on how to do port forwarding - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJSKJma_Omw

Its the same video that helped me.

Basically, what port forwarding is doing is that, it is connecting your computer/laptop IP to public IP, so that it gets shown publicly in server list.

2. As already mentioned, you have to add sv_lan 0 in the condition zero game. So, open the condition zero and press ` (the key just left side to 1). There type just "sv_lan 0" without inverted commas.

Otherwise, your friends would keep getting this error: LAN servers are restricted to local clients (class C).

I hope this helps.

However, please note that, the servers which I hosted had VAC disabled, so if in case any of you find a way to secure the server by VAC (enable VAC), then please do let us know.

Yes, this method works for any GoldSrc game.

Sometimes it is possible that the port appears open but in reality it is not, this is because your ISP is blocking that port for one reason or another. Contact them so they can open it.
Opening ports doesn't allow your public (WAN) IP address out to the world, it is already there thanks to your ISP. Port forwarding pokes a pinhole in your router to allow incoming connections on that port. When your server sends a heartbeat to steam it sends a requests back to the server, if the server answers (port is open) the server gets put on the server list, it the port is closed the server will not appear on the list. But you are going to write an article, make sure you know what you are talking about before you do.
