What class to pick?
Hi guys,

as with (almost) every other game that already existed before Steam, I see lots of discussions about "p2w or not" and lots of flame.
I personally don't care about that, I just want to play it and have fun, as it really looks nice and I enjoy turn based battles and cute graphics.
I did some digging and it seems that (like for all other MMORPGs^^) you need to pick a class/school.
So given that there are lots of veterans here as it seems, I'd like to ask your opinion: Which school should I take and for what reason?
It might be relevant that I like to complete areas before going to the next one, so I love the feeling that there is not a single quest left around me, I don't rush high levels. I sometimes like playing alone, but when playing with others I usually like to help them (buffs, heals, tank, you name it), so a class that can solo quite well and takes a supportive role in teams would be great.
Of course, if the class could also do dmg and not only support, I won't mind that at all. xD

Any other advice on how to gear, skill, etc. is of course also welcome. :)

storm 4 life it sucks
Rick Sep 1, 2018 @ 5:08pm
life is my favorite, but i think that when it comes to how you play the game death and storm offer the most interesting playthroughs, especially with how the game can be rather difficult for storm early on

as for the question about life, as a person who has a level 98 life, the way they quest is pretty much the same as all the other schools (blade up, feint if neccessary, hit), they just have more health to tank hits with, and rarely need to worry about dying unless you mismanage your health.

Wow, so many new comments. :)
I took a closer look at all the spells and three new questions popped up:
1) Life seems to have no good dmg (at least in low to mid levels) and no real dmg-buffs. Is playing solo as life just a long getting dmged, healing, getting dmg, healing, etc. until you can finally end the enemy, or does life have some hidden dmg that I didn't see?
2) Death had some interesting spells of the kind "hurt yourself to do ...". Can you put the positive effect (heal, 30% dmg buff, etc.) also on allies, or only on yourself? Furthermore: What happens if I already buffed myself and then use such a skill. Will it use up the buffs to hurt me even more? Or will the buffs only be triggered when attacking an opponent?
3) Balance seems to have quite a few spells to make enemies miss. From what I read, if you miss you keep all your mana and buffs and can simply attack even stronger in the next round, so is it even worth to make enemies miss, especially if you yourself pay quite some mana for that?
1.) When soloing bosses, I'd have to agree, yes it does involve you to take dmg, heal, dmg, heal, hirt kinda ordeal, as Life, their spells are one of the weakest. Except it gets easier down the road once you get said spell "Forest Lord." Every school has dmg buffs, Life is given a 40% blade and a 35?% trap. These are just the basic, but you could also get Spiritual Blade(35% to Death/Myth/Life) and a trap(25% to Death/Myth/Life). Not only that, if you still unsure, you could always buy TC(Treasure Cards) Blades to help you even more. So there are buffs. Life isnt great at hitting I agree, but they make up for it, for being insane healers.
2.) Death has a handful of spells that cause self damage, --Sorry if im off by a couple, its been a while, but should be accurate-- Sacrifice(250 dmg to self to heal anyone for 800) Empower(Deal 300dmg to self to gain 3 pips) Bad Juju(300dmg to self to put a -90% weakness on enemy). I believe thats all. These dmg to self however do take all your buffs as if you were attacking an enemy. So if you blade stack, those blades will be used. However, they use shields as well, so it doesnt take that much. Sacrifice CAN BE CRITICALED however, doing double, and healing for double. Death is a neat class, but I personally do not like it, as they aren't that great with Support or with damage.
3.) Balance may not seem like a great school, but TRUST ME. THEY have a hidden power. They do have accuracy debuffs, but you dont have to use it. There are only 2 accuracy debuffs on Balance. Black Mantle(-45% accuracy) and another one which comes on a spell called Loremaster(390-470dmg & -20% weakness & -35% accuracy) which by the way is one of the most over powered spells in the game, at any level. Balance may not be as stong as Storm or Fire or hell, even Myth. But we don't talk about Myth, cause Myth is thee absolute worst, But its an extremely fun school as well as an insane Support. I've already made 2 Balances, and once this goes Live, ill be doing another Balance. Did I also mention that Balance is one of the schools that dominate in PvP as well ;) if your into that.

Aaaand another option.
Damn, why do all these classes sound so good? xD
Can someone tell me if ice/tanks are needed in groups? So would you die/loose without a tank, or is it just a nice bonus to not loose that much HP, but not necessary?
Rick Sep 2, 2018 @ 12:47pm
tank ices are very neccessary when it comes to the later on dungeons, especially darkmoor. having a ice with high resist and health taking all the hits and using tower shields and legion shields to protect everyone else can make bosses that could defeat all the players in a couple rounds much easier to win

also, i dont know if anyone mentioned it yet, but ice doesn't get their blade until level 38, which is the main downside of the school IMO.

I am an Ice main myself and loved it, also had no problem soloing. Here's my Opinion
1. It has great survivability having the most health and defense, Ice's health can easily go over 7,000k at high level which is insane, some over 8,000k (with the sacrifice of damage).
2. It can start dealing massive damage later in game example Abominable Weaver (Deal 950-1150 Dmg and adds a -70% Tower Shield to you) and Snowball Barrage (85 Dmg per pip to all targets) which can sometimes outclass Storm and Fire.
3. A good Ice player can be a great Tank with Shadow Sentinel combined with most of the shields the class gets like Legion Shield (-30% Tower Shield to all allies )and especially Frozen armor (Shield absorbs 175 Dmg x the amount of pips you had when you casted on 1 ally).
4. Ice aswell as Balance are great in PvP if you want to go down that road.
The only thing that bothered me about leveling an Ice is the fact that you get your school blade at level. Hope this helps!
Lol did you actually say Ice can deal as much as storm or fire? I main ice so no bias, that is complete bs late game

Maybe the "sometimes" means full gear ice mage vs. naked storm dude? xD

Well I have 102 Damage as Ice and Snowball Barrage usually does more than say Fire's Raging Bull or Sun Serpent's total damage and as for Storm Glowbug will usually beat SB but not a chance when it comes to Tempest lol
What do you mean by “not a chance”? If you mean not a chance barrage will beat tempest, correct. If the opposite, you’re either stupid, biased or have no idea about the games mechanics

The only time an Ice can out perform a Storm in damage is if the Storm was level one and the Ice at lvl 120 xDDD

Atleast so far in Mirage that's how its been and I'm not saying Storm has crap damage I love Storm and it can really put Ice in a grave when it comes to big hits imo.

Not a chance that would happen if you were both geared. The storm clearly had bad gear if you outperformed him in damage. Personally experience with one other dude means nothing. Storm destroys ice in damage, no argument to be had.

Even when storm has good gear ice can still be pretty close to the damage of a storm, yes storm will always do more damage than ice but if you don't have a storm in your group then the ice wouldn't be a bad hitter.

By that logic, every single school is a "good hitter". Every school except for balance does better damage than Ice in PvE on average. I guarantee no group for endgame content would ever be asking for an ice hitter, or be ok with it, it just won't happen.

Snowball barrge is better than tempest and if you don't notice the damage on it then you're either blind or you just don't know what you're talking about.

LOL. Just because SB does "more" damage on the card doesn't mean anything. Storms gear stats are what makes it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blow ice out of the water in damage. Clearly you don't know what your talking about, ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Stop trying to argue Ice does as much damage as storm just because the card "does more" damage.
