How does a Membership on Steam work?

So, I would like to purchase a 1-Month Membership, to check out the game a bit more again, now that I've discovered it again after 13 years or so. I linked my account with the W101 website, and I can now pay through Steam.

But what will happen after this 1 month? What if I have like €1,- on my account? And does it even stop automatically? Because I don't think it does. Also, if it indeed does not stop automatically, where do you cancel it? Do you have to do that on the W101 website, or Steam? Or maybe both??

Could someone clear this up for me?

Yeah, sure, I've had Free EA Play for a month, but I had to stop it myself. I'm just wondering what happens if you have insufficient funds?

Clearly nothing.
you should cancel subscription before it runs out when you cant pay it tho
