Are there any significant downsides to buying zones vs Membership?
My addiction has come back full force but I don't want to buy membership this time around.

I'm running the game on a new account, and I'm buying zones this time. My thought process being that if I have a membership I'll burn out super quickly because I'm pressured to play to validate my membership costs every month. (I don't have a bunch of freetime). And also I can drop the game and come back without having to worry about rolling over on a subscription.

Zones are pretty cheap if you're moving through the game slowly, last time I played wizzy I didn't finish Moosho and the furthest I've ever gotten is Dragonspire, so it's not like I'm blasiting my wallet with zone costs.

I don't care about PvP so not having access to ranked PvP does not bother me, but I'm wondering if there are any serious drawbacks I'll have as a non-member player later into the game. (If I ever get there, my track record is not that great :steambored:)

In my case buying zones with crowns doesn't make any sense until I reach Avalon/Azteca as I already have 6 characters at or past that. Being my last and seventh character, it would only make sense to purchase once I reach a point where multiple characters can be played through.

So, if you only have a few characters who have gotten to Mooshu, I'd use membership until then, then purchase areas with crowns so you won't pay to access it essentially 6 times.

As someone who's played this game VERY on and off since 2009. I decided to buy the entire game on my second (main) account via Crowns. I think I regret that decision due to a few reasons:
1. I don't play for a long enough time to offset the cost of buying the entire game vs. getting a month or longer membership. My obsession periods usually last 2-4 months and can pause every year or longer. I don't feel I've gotten my money's worth (at least not yet).
2. I didn't realise the perks & benefits membership offers vs. crowns-only non-member player. Things like double pet xp, first free 2nd chance chests, extra scroll of fortune rewards, zero energy fishing, etc. They're all pretty minor things in the grand scheme but because there are SO many of them in the millions of other features in the game, they seem worth it as someone who tries to dabble in these misc. activities.
3. My personal play style. It's tied to the two reasons above and boils down to the fact that I am a PVE-only player who gets into phases of playing the game, enjoys doing every side quest and activity, and can get through most of the game on a new character within a month or two.

Perhaps the only benefit to being a Crowns-only player is that I don't feel the pressure of having to play the game enough on a membership, and it's nice to (mostly) not have to think about paying anymore for the game whenever I decide to randomly pick it up again and can play at varying degrees of "obsession". But that's really it. I don't truly "own" the game since updates are constant and I still must purchase new areas and am kind of locked into this payment method with how much of the game I own (I can never justify buying a membership on this account again). And I can't help but feel like I'm missing out on all the membership perks & benefits I have no access to. But that's just my 2 cents! :bhtea:

in the old Days where u become realy good Packets of Crowns for realy Cheap Money the Crowns for Zones was an good Idea. But this changed after the Migration. Look when u buy the lowest Crown pack and u look how many u need for 1 Membershipelixier and then look what u sell for the Membership via Website then that Elixier costs u double of that what u will pay for Membership itself without the Elixier 16.00 - 7.99. The Price with the Crowns when u buy them in Packs 60000 or 80000 when theyre 25% cheaper cost u when u see exact this Elixier 1 cent more then the normal Membership 8.00 - 7.99. And theres a Way to become a Membership cheaper if u have Familyaccount 5.99 or cheaper when its on Discound 4.99. So Crowns in that Game cost more then Memberships and that with less Place for Items (-70) and much things like double Resources, free Fisching and and and. When u Buy Zones u need the Inventarupgrades too and that makes it more Expensive. And for that Money u can Play the Game via Membership many Years. I think cause the most Game are not Played whole Lives but just a few years the Membership is much Cheaper. When u buy Zones u Pay over 200 Eur for all Zones. When u then look that u can Play that for Years for 49.99 per whole year you can play over 4 Years with all nice Memberbonuses. Or more when u dont Play each month and Buy Membership just sometimes.

Buying wizard city and krok are worth it, they are relatively cheap. anything beyond that probably isn't a good idea.

you are only saying that in regaurds to the main hub part of those world not not counting each area in that world as simply bying the main part of that world witch means the part u enter in the world door in that only counts that part but not the entire world as i own all worlds up to dragonspyre how ever i do not own each area in each world so ican only go so far in it before it asks to another zone with in that world i own korktopia but do not own temple of the storms or korkophinx etc so cannot go there so its not cheap
