Steam Achievements and Trading Cards
Hello all (and Sparck),

As an incentive to get players to play I believe Steam Achievements and Trading Cards should be added to the game. Im not sure if they were already planned to be added to the game and they are just not ready yet, and I am not aware of the technical difficulties there could be; but I think both of these would be a great idea for steam players.

Achievements would encourage the players to complete quests, find hidden secrets, and explore (similar to the badges in game, except this would be more relevant for steam players than badges because who doesn't love earning achievements?). Some achievement examples are: Complete the tutorial, Defeat Malistaire, Complete Darkmoor, Acquire Shadow Magic, Achieve level 100, Enter Krokotopia (or any new area you enter), etc. See how many options there could be for achievements? A lot of players are achievement completionists, so putting some secret achievements in there where you have to fight a certain skeleton key boss or do a certain sidequest would be amazing by leaving it up to the players to find it. I believe there should defenitely be about 200 (give or take) achievements in the game (just think of how many badges there are).

As for Trading Cards, that is a great way for new players (and old) to log hours into the game and play more so they can earn the trading cards. ALSO, for most Free-To-Play games on steam, you can earn extra trading cards for about every $9 or so spent in-game. Therefore, purchasing Crowns or Memberships in-game could earn you more Trading cards so you can Trade them and Craft Badges.

Instead of worrying about account merging etc., I think us as veteran players should focus on these aspects of the steam version more to give new players a better experience and for us to restart our journey and enjoy it on a new platform where we can earn achievements and badges and show it off on our Steam Profile. I would like to hear everyone's opinions or ideas; and Sparck, if you see this, please let me know if this is something KingsIsle plans on implementing into this game at some point or if this is something we can discuss. Thank you all.

I agree. There should be something that draws players to the Steam version, vice the KI website version (besides the fact that Steam cards are more prevalant in stores for alternative credit card payment options over KI cards).

Achivements would be fine as long as they're handled with care, while just making badges achviements would be a easy copy-paste job, it would renser some of them being impossbile or far too grindy for people to even want to bother

BUMP: I feel like this got no light or thought even though I believe this is one of the more important aspects of the Steam version right now. I still want to hear what all the players would like to express about this idea and I would like some insight if this is something we can expect in the future and to what extent. I still believe this addition to the game would benefit Wizard101 in numerous ways.

We'd love to add these additional Steam related features! There are some considerations here before we'd be able to do so though.

I know it's been 6 years since this comment but is this still under consideration now that the ingame badge system has got a revamp ealier this year?

Steam achievements help bring audiences to your games which means more membership/sales ect.

I for one loved this game as a kid but now as a adult I do not play games without steam achievements so I would love to come back to my childhood game and earn all the steam achievements!

If you look at assassins creed valhalla discussion you will find thousands of comments requesting them. Ubisoft did finally add them recently and now you see people thanking them, since then valhalla has had many sales and positive review due to them listening to the steam community.

I would appreciate it even if you just pass the word up to main decision makers to consider these amazing features we all love and cherrish on steam :)

Also looking to see if there's any more thoughts you have on this Sparck! While not absolutely every player will see achievements as an incentive, there is of course a large number of very keen players who see achievements as another challenge to complete, and could bring new completionist-gamers, as well as give older players a reason to return, to pursue completing those achievements, too. I understand that there may be challenges on the implementation front, but if it's viable, it really could liven things for the Steam side of the community!

With the recent focus on badges in-game, it's odd they haven't added Steam achievements. It could even be the same exact achievements as in-game (just like how Xbox works).

Absolutely, yeah! Like, it really felt that when they did the badge update, it would have been the perfect time to add achievements for Steam as well (and potentially sorta get it more... organised for the future console release as well, then)
