Wizard101

Wizard101

Sigh, banned despite not having played since last year
Solved: Unbanned thanks to the good lads at Steam, lesson learned to not bend the knee at the first demand. Always stick up for what you believe to be right lads, lasses.

Already talked to support, haven't got a response yet but I expect I will eventually.

Just confused because it says my account is invalid, something about fraudulent payment or whichever. All of my purchases are logged in steam and show every one I've made on Wizard101. Hell, my bank shows all the purchases too so I dunno how it could be seen as fraud.

I wanted to come back to Wizard101 but being permanently banned despite not having played the game in a long time is a bit disheartening. Couldn't even lock my account and ask for a discussion in email? Had to permanently ban my account? (and delete it according to old forum posts)

Honestly I don't even know how I could fake paying for whatever I supposedly faked paying for. Steam literally won't let you do that.

Just got an update.

Hello,

I’m sorry, when we get word from a credit card company that a card holder has issued a chargeback against an account, our only choice is to suspend that account until the chargeback has been paid. We will gladly reinstate the account as soon as we hear from the card issuer that the chargeback has been rescinded or otherwise resolved. If you wish to expedite the process, please contact the bank directly & have them email a release to:
Tim@KingsIsle.com

If you wish to make payment for the chargeback amount, you can do so by sending a check or US money order to:

KingsIsle Entertainment
P.O. Box 941409
Plano, TX 75074

Please be sure to include your username! Upon receipt, we will notify the credit card company to resolve the charge back dispute in the cardholder’s favor and reinstate the game account.

The amount necessary to reinstate this account is: $14.95 ($9.95 disputed amount + $5 ($5 per line item) (credit card chargeback fee to KingsIsle)).

This is ridiculous. I was approved of a refund from STEAM. Steam should be held accountable if you guys don't want to refund people for shady stuff like charging after a cancellation. I honestly for the life of me can't believe that the same folks I adored as a kid are also just money stingy business execs. Have fun losing more money from this, I was ready to resub and purchase a bundle or two to get back into the game. Game is dying anyways and this certainly isn't helping.

Because it isn't private information, it is public information regarding the PO box for business inquiries of Kingisle, and an email for the support. Both of which are easily obtainable and not private.

I'm assuming this was a monthly membership that you purchased. Yeah, you can't refund monthly memberships for obvious reasons so I don't know why you're upset. Just pay the $15 and get back into the game.

If you're gonna leave a comment. At least read the post will you? Steam themselves are on this ♥♥♥♥ now, you can't apply terms of service for purchases on people who aren't purchasing through you. That's not how it works. They put their game on steam so they are obligated to follow the seller terms of service. One of which being that people purchasing on steam are to follow steam terms of service and only theirs alone for purchases and refunds.

Edit for additional information: I would pay the original fee if they weren't extorting additional money out instead of just asking for the original charge. I could care less if it is 5 dollars, there is a legal case here that I could dispute to get them in trouble. The way steam support said it, I'll be speaking with someone a bit higher than just a normal support employee regarding this. I have zero plans to return to Wizard101 after I've seen how blatantly ignorant the company is. Now, I just want to see what I can do to get them to clarify their terms of service and to not let them permanently ban people who have put hundreds of hours into their game.

You'll be happy to know that there was an ultimatum sent to them and I have my account back in my hands, it's a wonder what you can do when you stand up for yourself isn't it?
