In reality any kids could buy any inappropriate thing if their parents arent paying attention to every detail in the childs life.
so i just dont find it fair to (personally) ruin a game socially because some kids might say or do something that, might, get them introuble for doing something that child knew he/she wasnt allowed to do. Which wouldnt be th ames fault. but the game would probably be blamed. But then since the game monopolized on having children play it they are officially screwed and have to stick with their family friendly format. which would still allow my idea of "buying" an adult membership. because they could tell parents "DONT BUY THIS".
but ofcourse they still wouldnt do that becaue they dont want that image.
which isnt fair. I bet most of the "back in the day" players are adults now.
SO I PROPPOSE Wizard101 2.
Calling someone an idiot for having a Opinion Wiithout brining up possbile counter-points, classy, must be a real thrill at social events
As far as an "Adult Option" goes, I really don't see it happening, while it would be nice to have given how more and more words get Redlisted due to people using them to circumvent the filter, It would still come wiht its own problems
1) Like several other posters mentioned, people can easaily lie about thier age, which would lead us right back to square one
2) Part of the reason why the filers are so frustatingly restrisve is so that KI can retian that squeaky-clean "Family-Friendly" Mofit, so while at times it's idiotic, its partly so the company can save face (even though it really dosen't have much of a face to begin with, but that's another topic)
While it is frustrating that Open chat becomes increasingly more useless as more and more words get redlisted, I would advise using other forms of chatting to keep up with friends and the like, Such as Steam and Discord, where you don't have to worry about filters and automated systems, it's better than dealing with the filters, espically with how Text Chat has it even worse
P.S. Not to toot my own horn or anything (exactly what i'm doing) I actually enjoy parties (clearly what you were talking about) and actively participate in them when the times allows, just saying.
Not really...?
So if I play with my best buddy we are forced to write in English, even if it is not our native language, even in private chat? oO
If thats the case and you are complaining maybe you need the help controlling your words in the first place.
If I understand them correctly, that is not the problem.
The problem is that you can't say anything that is not in the dictionary/on the whitelist.
For example if I'm to say "yo dude, lets go do some levling", it might turn out as "*** ***, *** go do some ***", because the first two words might not be in the dictionary and the other two are written wrong (ok, "lets" might be viewed as the plural of the noun "let", but still^^).
Or of course a sentence like "kill the right one first!" should be "*** the right one first!", as the word "kill" could be abused if allowed.
Not sure how bad it is in this game, but I had such problems in another game with a whitelist chat filter some years ago.
