A heads up before playing this game

you can call me a veteran in this game has i played it off and on since i was 14 years old, im 22 now. i have 2 max chars and multiple 100's (max level is 125)

*** I will stop replying to comments more than once since i'm not trying to make it look like an argument. If you really care to discuss something then pm me, i dont mind chatting a bit. I will instead address them here generally.



I will be addressing a few things.

** 1) I'm not biased. These are facts, i give little personal view.

2) This game is not free to play. you can maybe get to level 12 now before the pay wall. in my time years ago it was level 8. so yes this game is pay to play, its unforunate that most people will give this game a bad rating solely because of this fact. 10 bucks a month isnt a lot and it offers a hell of a lot. i would be surprised it you can play 3 full months without taking a break, that would be 30 bucks, not that bad. you can buy premium currency and with it buy areas. i for one dont use membership instead i buy the areas i want which are not many because i am already maxed so i dont need membership to level. i just buy a few dungeons and a few locations that have things i wanna farm.

3) This game is not pay to win. the game offers packs to buy with crowns (premium currency) which give you better gear in some areas and for certain levels. over all at max level you dont need to worry about this. the best wands in the game can only be obtained from packs yes. and these wands are so good, thats what makes people call it pay2win. pack wands♥♥♥♥♥♥on game obtainable wands, that difference isnt game breaking but it is big. Don't think this unfair since these wands arent for pvp, they are for damage and for pve. Can't call that pay2win since this is a team based game. there are gear in packs that are really good like jade gear which is the games best tank gear but this isnt needed to play. So no this game isn't paywin in terms of damage at max level, a pack opening player will be stronger than a simple membership player but not by much by any means. you can still solo this game 100% and never buy crowns, you just wont be wanted as main hitter in a dungeon run against a pack opener who has a top tier wand. Again the only good thing in packs (In terms of gear) are wands (The stat that makes it so good is critical rating), everything else dont be concerned about. To sum it up, packs are for hardcore players or wizheads as some call them.

** 4) gotta address something else now and its has to due with pvp and pay2winness. i personally don't think its pay2win but i won't argue that it's not. you can also get nice treasure cards in packs and no where else and yes they are good. i only ever pvped at lvl 14 since thats the best and easiest lvl to get to warlord (not so much nowadays since pet meta has changed over the years.) when the level cap was 60 i pvped and had a good time with life being full defense and healing, got to knight rank. I'm no expert on pvp and i have reason to think hardcore pvpers would say its pay2win but when i hear pay2win i think about real mmorpgs and this game is nothing like it. pvp isn't for anyone that's not a hardcore player imo, dont think you're gonna get to warlord if you take this game casually. Also idk about after level 60 but you will need pvp gear to get to warlord and i mean pvp currency gear. crown gear can help you get enough wins and tickets to get them or you can learn pvp strats and do tourneys where gear isn't as important. theres a lot to say about pvp but this should settle it a bit.

** 5) play the game for atleast a full month with membership and reach a decent level, that would be 100+ before you wanna argue that this game is pay2win. Also learn what a pay2win game looks like. This game has a hell of a lot of pay for convenience that i agree on.

** 6) a lot of crown items can be dropped in game. it may take forever but theres the chance. going from mounts, gear, wands, amulets and more. but if you're casual no need to be concerned.

** 7) Avoid roleplay.

**8) Let's make this clear. The standard max level gear. imma look at it as a storm wizard. my pack wand gives 125 crit rating, 10 damage and 5 pierce. if i wasn't using this i would use hades wand and that has 92 crit rating and 5 pierce. is a difference of 33 crit rating and 10 damage big enough to call this game p2w? No. Theres also a pack that comes in winter that drops a 195~ crit rating wand but that's too much imo, atleast for storm, i would use it on any other. Now theres a better wand than mines at 132 crit rating and 12 damage, but it not worth, i'll wait for 130 level wands. There are game wands that are really good in the damage area but lack in crit rating, i like reaching 800 crit rating to have 100% critical chance. you may want a wand that have 20 damage and 60 crit rating, it's preference.

** 9) Hope this is the last thing that i will need to address. You can 100% play this game without crowns and solely with membership. you can gain crowns for free and use them on things like stitching for cosmetics and maybe save up for areas. don't let the comments below push you away.

If you can look past these factors then i don't see why you can't enjoy the game. It's not for everyone but don't bash the game simply because you just didn't like it ( whether it's because of the combat or the graphics), that no reason to rate it bad. Anyone who hasnt played this game, Feel free to ask questions about the game I would be glad to answer any.

Lmao. This game is absolutely p2w, you must not know what most people consider p2w. If you can get the best gear or an advantage by paying real money, the game is p2w. You yourself said the best wand in the game cannot be obtained without paying. Also the skull chests in dungeon use crowns so that you can get a chance to get gear again. Of course you don’t have to, but if you do you will get gear much faster than you would normally which is also p2w. Get your facts straight before misleading people into thinking this game isn’t p2w even a little bit

Lol last I played didnt matter what gear you had you can have like 300 crit block versus someone with 140 crit and it would still go through

You do realize saying this game isn't pay to win is a pretty big lie due to the fact that most of the game requires you to either buy stuff with crowns or buy membership just to farm certain areas or get high critical wands, at the end of the day the person who pays the most will always have the biggest advantage unless they waste their money on bundles and crown store stuff.

you're wrong. pay2win would imply pvp and this game's focus isn't pvp. paying to progress faster isn't pay2win unless it's affecting non paying player's. you either solo this game or you team up, someone being stronger doesn't mean anything.... it's helps infact. One simply can't reach the max amount of critical rating with ease without pack wands. which is not a big deal unless you care to be main hitter in dungeons or you're a storm wiz( which is the only school worth having to be a hitter).

You're so wrong about this. you only NEED to buy membership nothing else. again, you can't be the strongest you can be without pack wands but if you compare gear it's not that big of a deal. This is a pve game, you're not beating anyone by buying a butt load of packs. and these wands aren't even good for pvp. Yes you can buy chests to get more chances to get loot after a dungeon run but anyone with a brain would know (unless you have crowns to blow) never open these chests past like 2k crowns. The RNG is awful, i spent and i kid you not at least 30k crowns on mali chest to get the robe and i didnt get it. thats 30 bucks worth of crowns. you need to play real mmorpgs before you decide whats pay2win. Convenience is not pay2win.

I feel like most people haven't played real mmorpgs since a lot think this game is pay2win. every mmorpg has things wiz does and they aren't any more pay2win than this game. It's in their nature to have purchasable things for convenience. Certain games may be directed for kids, but all games are made to make money.

nope. although in my opinion and any half brained person would say that's not pay2win. Only if it affects pvp would it be. I can make an alt and never use crown gear and solo quest to max level with ease.

I highly suggest putting it somewhere on the store page that the game isn't F2P (if you havent already ) and you do have to buy after a certain level in the game because yeah that will not go well at all with players on here lol

I would have been one of those people mad because I have never played Wizard 101 but saw it a lot as a kid lol. Seeing it on steam I got excited to actually try it and I am glad I came across this post so I won't be dissapointed now because I simply don't want to pay for another sub MMO (already paying for FF14) but yeah :/
