Account Information

Q: Can I use my current KingsIsle account on Steam?

A: You cannot use your current KingsIsle account on Steam or link it to your Steam account. That means that you won’t be able to access the Crowns, Characters, and Membership purchases of any account not created through Steam. If you load the game from the Wizard101 launcher, not through Steam, you can still log in to any accounts created through the KingsIsle website.

Q: How do I play Wizard101 on Steam?

A: To play Wizard101 on Steam, you will need to Install the Wizard101 Launcher from Steam and follow the steps to create an account through the Steam launcher. Players not using Steam still create their accounts on the Wizard101 website.

Q: Can I make a family of accounts through Steam?

A: You can make a family of accounts through Steam. One thing to note: the families can’t be a mixture of Steam users and non-Steam users. That means you can’t add a Wizard101 account created through Steam to an existing family of accounts created through the Wizard101 website.

Q: Will the Steam version of the game replace the version I already have installed?

A: Installing the game through Steam places the installation in a specific Steam location that’s separate from where the current version of Wizard101 is installed. You can have both versions installed on your computer at the same time and they won’t overwrite one another.

Purchasing/Steam Wallet

Q: How do I get a Membership through Steam?

A: Memberships can only be purchased with the Steam Wallet for KingsIsle accounts created through Steam. Steam has an enforced limit of 1 active membership per Steam Wallet per game. For each Steam Wallet, you can purchase one Wizard101 membership and one Pirate101 membership. If you wish to purchase a second membership from the same Steam Wallet, you’ll need to purchase it as a non-renewing gift certificate. See gift certificate question below.

Q: How does making purchases like buying Crowns work when I play through Steam?

A: Wizard101 players registered through the Steam Wizard101 client can only make purchases using their Steam Wallet. You cannot purchase using your Credit Card or PayPal even if you log on to the KingsIsle website directly.

Q: What is the refund process like?

For Steam players, refunds cannot be initiated from the Steam website. They must contact KingsIsle’s Customer Support. Even though refunds are handled through KingsIsle and not Steam, the refund will be reflected in your Steam Wallet balance.

Steam Features

Q: Will there be unique achievements?

A: At this time, there will be no Wizard101 Steam achievements.

Q: Will there be Steam forums?

A: Visit the official Wizard101 EU Discord server for a Steam specific channel: {HIVATKOZÁS TÖRÖLVE}

Q: Where do I go for Support?

A: The primary place to go for support is the KingsIsle Help and Support hub. For issues relating specifically to the Steam Wallet or the Steam Hardware, go to Steam Support.

Gameplay

Q: Will I be able to quest with other players who are using their KingsIsle account?

A: Each country has it’s own server that all players, Steam and Standard will play on, when they select that country. Make sure to select the same country that your friends play on.

If an existing player makes a new Wizard101 account on Steam, they can befriend and play with the same people from their prior adventures in the Spiral. Existing players using non-Steam KingsIsle accounts can play with new Steam users and show them around.

Q: Can I still use Prepaid Cards on my Wizard101 account created through Steam?

A: US Steam and Standard users will enjoy the same access to Prepaid Cards as non-Steam accounts. That means you can redeem any of our Prepaid Cards and get the exclusive pets, pet jewels, and bundle items.

Q: Are Steam users eligible for the “Invite-a-Friend” promotion?

A: Steam users can still be the initiator as well as recipient of KI’s “Invite-A-Friend” promotion. Currently the program is for NA players only, though we hope to one day bring this to EU players as well.

Q: How can I participate on Test Realm (when Test Realm is available)?

A: 1. Install the {HIVATKOZÁS TÖRÖLVE}
2. Launch Steam and Login
3. Select the ‘Games’ drop down menu at the top
4. Select “Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library…”
5. A window will appear and auto-populate with all installed software on the machine.
6. If it’s not present for some reason, you can select ‘Browse…’ and navigate to the install directory and choose the same exe that the Windows Shortcut uses.

Q: Will Pirate101 also be on Steam?

A: Yes! You can get it here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/620620/Pirate101/

HMMM: Isn't it 10 $? That would be around 8.60 Euro according to google...
Devious: If I understood him correctly, Steam is doing stuff and he has no influence on that.

I'm quite sure that Steam doesn't convert USD to EUR, they have the same value om here, sadly. It does bother me as well. There is no good reason for us Europeans to pay more than other players in the United States. Hopefully KI can somehow convert the different currencies with the correct rates.

Nope , steam does convert USD to all other values . If values arę on steam. If not, you can buy by euro or usd
Why label it free to play if you have to pay to play through the game.... why not just pay for cosmetics which will be "free to play" just charge $20 on steam for access to everything exccept for membership qualities like pvp or events. :/

The "Earns Crown" option/button was removed in the Steam version.

It's not working in the client version either way, so that's a good choice. xD

Very true. I wouldn't be surprised if a future patch removes from that version, as well.
We just updated the FAQ with this Q&A:

Q: Why am I not able to get Wizard101 on Steam in my region?

A: Wizard101 on Steam is currently not available in some regions where Gameforge has the exclusive right to publish the game subject to a licensing agreement with KingsIsle. Gameforge has expressed an interest in making Wizard101 on Steam available in those regions, and we are hopeful that the game will be available there in the future.

Please visit {HIVATKOZÁS TÖRÖLVE} and click the "Select Country" drop-down option at the top of the page to review which languages the game currently supports. Exploring these pages will help you to get the game in those regions.

Yes, but this means that we will play on European servers and not the American ones... I have looked closely at the gamefoge site, ok on the existing worlds they are also coming to Empirya but the anniversary we are 2 years old to the original version of KI, which it makes me doubt that the updated version of Wizard City and many other things added like the Cursed Play gauntlet etc, are not yet in play in the version of Gameforge... we all know that Gameforge and teacher in bringing late updates, I do not know why and I do not care, I would like to play on your servers by ste...
You can play on the US server by simply downloading the game directly from the homepage; that version is not region locked.
You can also link it to Steam as an external game, this way you can use Steam overlay and some other features ingame.
I am not sure about paying for membership or crowns through Steam, I read something about buying gift cards with your Steam money and then using these on the homepage, but that might have been just a rumor (would be great if you could enlighten me on this @Sparck ;) ).

You cannot use the financial/Steam wallet if you are using your KI account through the Steam. You have to create a brand new account to use Steam wallet.

Yes, you can purchase gift cards with Steam money (Steam account). You are directed to the normal KI webpage for purchases, but it pulls from your Steam wallet rather than asking for credit card information.
Hello there,

We do the in-game charges on Steam with the "REAL DAILY VARIABLE EXCHANGE RATE"
Current time in Turkey as follows: $ 1USD = ₺6.37TL-TRY
2.500 Crown Price: $5.00USD = ₺31.85TL-TRY
1 Month Membership: $9.95USD = ₺63.38TL-TRY

When I want to take the crown from Steam, you can convert the above exchange rate to my local currency.
The amount of purchasing power in Turkey is far above a price as you can see.

Steam exchange rate is $1USD = ₺1.50TL-TRY
Based on the Steam exchange for Wizard101 purchases for each country:
1 Month Membership: $9.95USDx*₺1.50TL-TRY = ₺15TL-TRY
2.5000 Crowns: $5.00USDx*₺1.50TL-TRY = ₺7.5TL-TRY
We could buy the price.
Of course, when Steam raises the USD-TRY rate, they will increase.

Hopefully later in the day, we can purchase from our Steam wallet at Steam's own set rate.
I sent a ticket to the Steam Support Team on this.
In part of his answer he mentioned:
- !!** But Wizard101 is not a game developed by Valve. In games not developed by Valve, the game's Steam Store fee, sales promotions, in-game currency and similar features are determined by the developers of these games.

We are unable to pay due to the low value of our own money.
Please note that players using low-value currencies are eligible.
And, with different currencies based on the Steam rate, allow other countries to shop online.
Players using currencies such as EURO, GBP, etc. can get everything in the game by paying players.
This is injustice.

Thank you,
Best regards.

Hello,

I was in the process of making an in-game purchase for Wizard101. However, it appears all in-game purchases are according to the US ($) dollar. To make a $9.95 purchase, it is requesting that I pay 62.25 Turkish Liras (according to my country's currency rate, that being Turkey). And, according to Turkey's economic standards, this is really expensive. Could you please explain to me why your in-game purchases are according to the current exchange rates rather than according to a country's purchasing power, in this case, Turkey's living standards? I believe that all of your users should be equal, and even if in-game items are to be sold according to the dollar, the system should have already automatically convert it to the Turkish lira and listed its price accordingly.

Please make your rates not according to the current exchange rates, but according to our country's economic standards. Us Turkish users really do not want to have to pay according to the current exchange rates as it is unfair and not at all according to our purchasing power.

Thank you,
Best Regards.
Thank you GevanTR on sending in the support ticket, we'll be able to help you there with any account payment questions. We'll also consider the adjustments you suggest, if we're able to do so.
