My honest opinion on this game
forewarning I am not really what would I call qualified reviewer , or an expert. This is my opinion take it with a grain a salt okay.
1. Lets get started with the levels and all that jazz so as you progress through the game you start fighting more dangerous enemies while navigating progressively more dangerous terrain. which as you grow stronger becomes less about the enemies than just avoiding traps. The levels themselves are in my regards varied and long enough except the chapter 3 areas which are far too short kinda bland in some ways compared to the earlier areas such as not having interesting lore bits to interact with.
in my opinion after chapter 1 the levels become less open and a tad more linear. there is no hidden upgrades in chapter 2 or 3 and while there are recipes and equipment by exploring there is no need for backtracking. Which is both good and bad in my books. I get that after a certain amount powerups there is really no way to hide hidden recipes, items , and whatnot like that but it could be just picking up like keycards or whatnot to open extra optional areas in early parts of levels, It helps that there is a fast travel except I wish there were more of those fast travel stations.

2. the basic enemies are all different and well designed they all have differing ways that behave to an extent. That said like i said before once it gets to the final chapter they really are not what I would call interesting to fight they are at this point in the game not a challenge and don't really do anything that would be considered dangerous and have maybe 1 or 2 attacks, frankly they are walking health packs by this point in the game and it shows.

3. now onto the meat of the matter the food which acts as your leveling/upgrade system while they are plenty of dishes in the game as the game goes on certain dishes are easily outclassed by others, while others are to specific to be useful or not remotely helped by the equipment. Its also not helped by the fact that their are less dishes per chapter, with barely any in the last one. I did not use any of the new dishes introduced in chapter 3. do to the fact that the stomach is far too small as their is no upgrade for it which heavily limits build to the point that your build will be health upgrade, something that heals on hit gives shield, attack speed upgrade plus move speed and maybe just maybe some neat thing based on weapons. Also while I am glad we can now save multiple builds and swap on the fly, I wish it told me I had go to the inventory page to swap stomachs, I figured it out after I beat the game.

4. equipment is fine but I feel their could of been more to it and certain weapons such as rapid fire guns were not supported in the slightest. the last chapter doesn't have much also wish there was a ultimate hatchet.

5. bosses I love the designs and their personalities except there limit breaks take frick ton of time to go through and the bosses always have a last hurrah attack that takes forever like clifford. this will kill the player because the sheer density of these attacks and length of these phases coupled with the fact that this game has very limited healing the best and most efficient means of surviving is attacking which is not helped by some of these bosses leaving the screen and or become invincible and you really can't speed it up and its not fun in the slightest its actually plain annoying and unfun.
starting chapter 3 you have probably the hardest boss which is not saying much in this chapter who is incredibly boring. This is followed by the next boss being actually mechanically interesting while also being easy, though I think that is the point, followed by the last boss the putrid. Who is a joke for two reasons one he was a stationary bullet hell which means I face tanked him while destroying him with dual axes, the second is the most dangerous part of him which just platforms raining from the sky which makes navigating the level to smack him a bit more difficult in the fact that its tedious I expected much more like differing forms or what not.

6. The story is by far the best part of this game, because while the game is not bad by any means. The story is well done in all regards the plot is incredibly solid, characters are great, the pacing is well done though I do believe the cone arc should of had a 1 or 2 more stages and another boss, the world building is excellent. Its a very good story not much more to say on that.

This game was very enjoyable flaws and all, good job devs.

Well this my incredibly long opinion which I will call my "review".

Debate below in the comments if you want but do keep it civil.
