Bug: Smelter do not deliver steel plate to storage
Smelter and other factories do not deliver goods to storage.

I've seen another thread or two mentioning the issue with a response that it's not an issue, but IT IS AN ISSUE, please reconsider ^^

If it's of any help. This might have have something to do with the factory getting full. I've seen workers taking out resources (as expected) until the internal storage of the factory is full, then no good is ever taken out again.

I've found a workaround for the issue. Go to resource mode, edit supply links,
* Select the smelter and link it to every storage one by one.
* Select each storage one by one and link it to the smelter.

tag cells in a storage room with the resource management UI with a one of resource in the resource inventory tool strip. like setup a few plates and coils spots.

Or use the supply chain management and tell the factory to deliver to a specific storage room.

You need to tell them else they would fill the ships with product.

If you designate a storage room to hold that resource it will auto-empty the factory's output goods to that tile. Your crew will haul it to the storage.

This only happens if you designate storage for that resource though. You need to designate storage spots for ammo if you want your ammo factory's output to be hauled there. Same with the other factories. You do not need a supply chain to see the resources moved if you tag spots for metal plates, ammo, missile parts, etc.

If you do not designate any storage to be any resource in particular then the factories will not automatically haul their output goods. General purpose storage that accepts all goods (not tagged for anything in particular) will not accept factory outputs unless you set up a supply chain.

The workaround to tag a few cells for a specific resource is not reasonable. It only allows to use a few cells. It's horribly painful to have to micro manage and haul each cell.

You want to be able to fill the ship with iron/copper when you go mining, and convert them to plates/coils as you go, until the ship is full.

For that, you need to link each warehouse to the factory AND link the factory to every warehouse. Very important to do the linking both ways or things will get stuck.

I think the only exception is for ammo, because they take too much space. 1 cell of sulfur will create 5 cells of ammo, you don't want to fill your ship like that. You just need a few ammo/missiles next to the relevant guns.

You don't need to link anything. Just designate a store room to hold your iron plates. Crew will automatically haul finished iron plates from your smelter into the store room you told to store iron plates. Thats it.

Same goes with other resources. Designate a store room to hold ammo and your crew will dutifully haul ammo from the factory to the designated store room.
