Tier 1 : Beam Emiters ; Railguns
Tier 2 : Nukes ; EMP missiles ; HE missiles
Tier 3 : Heavy laser ; Disruptors
Tier 4 : Cannons
Tier 5 : Laser
Tier 6 : Flak ; PDs

Heavy laser is tier 1 until you run out of hull space.
Beam is tier 1 if you have infinite crew
Nukes are tier 1 as long as you only plan to use them once, never reload nukes unless you have a good reason.

lot of weapons are situational, for example heavy cannons actually have more HP then armour, so they basically act as angry armour.

yeah, they mostly all have a place and benefit, and then something they are good at, something they are not.... Like a massive space version of rock, paper, scissors, spock, lizard.
EDIT: I've yet to get missiles to work for me... and i've not tried out mines, which i'm having trouble picturing working outside of the fleeing ships that try to outrange attackers

Misssiles are niche, either they are absolutely terrifying or useless depending on the enemy's amount of flack

One of the guys in our coop game made a sniper ship with a MASSIVE rail array. He has mine launchers front and sides and basically backs away from targets laying a minefield between him and them. Very effective.

also small PD guns are kinda terrifying massed

yes that PD boat is indeed killing a 2m cred missile cruiser with ease, 5x its cost

Top-Tier Weapon - The player that puts any weapon system to its best use, effectively.

Just about everything has its niche. With some low grade weapon systems, "moar is more betterer." With others, it's about focusing the ship on maximizing their potential.

The best weapons are having multiple, effective, ships rather than one super-ship. (In Career mode)

No offense, but this is such an ineffective ship design... one heavy hield could easily replace 2-3 of your small shields while being much better, too, only taking away three defense cannons from each side of which you have too many anway to be efficient.

Reactiors literally as far away from your most energy draining MAIN gun as it can be on your design, two normal thrusters instead of a bigger one for turning/slowing down... just why, hurts my designer heart.

Not to mention 2 lucky rockets to your back mean GG for your ship.

Mods have some cool stuff this ship has value of just under 400k credits.

3 guns: 1 Particle accelerator gun and 2 Deck cannons. Absolutely murders things.

Sustatined fire to the side will mess it up but I suspect no ship is perfect and the more you add the bigger the ship gets and not all ships can be capitol ships.

There is even a way to make this ship with only one cockpit and the command booster.

Can't say this little ship is useless

His small ship seems to be able to completely restrain the missile ship

It's just the back of this ship... if get hit in the back by a missile, done.

Solution : More missiles.
Netaris Nov 11, 2022 @ 3:43am
Well, that kind of ship may work well, but 8acc railguns + EMP missiles firing from 600 meters is way better for a big vs small battle. I doubt that this ship will be able to face all endgame ships.
cainboy Nov 11, 2022 @ 6:33am
k... so a single volley from 2 mine layers just disintegrated a chasing ship.... mines can* do a serious amount of damage. its insane.
how effective they are from a non defensive standpoint I dont know, but my jaw just dropped. and had to share.
