A fire breaks out one guy leaves the room and picks up an extinguisher to get to the fire on time.
Don't multi-role the fire fighting because things get weird when there's a fire in the middle of a fight..
If a fire breaks out this means a component that used to require Suppliers has been destroyed. If its Operators are still alive, they can pick up the job and extinguish the fire. Else the suppliers will don the firefighting gear as they won't have to supply anymore.
The important thing either way is a proper path between a nearby firefighting tile, sites with potential fires (large shields, cannons, etc), and the crew quarters of these Suppliers.
If you have a tile to spare, one that's not in the way for supplying, put a station, or two, or three. You get the idea.
