I agree. I liked the old system better. Perhaps it could be an settings/gameplay/option.
And actually, if your hold was full, that would be a way to take extra loot to sell with you
If you take a ship it's worth like 35% of normal, mine as well break it down to make it easier to carry back, don't have to buy a reactor etc and worry about a defenseless ship being attacked
But at the same time, I feel like there should be SOME kind of bonus, even if its a small thing, for taking the time/getting lucky enough to keep a ship intact.
Perhaps some ships could have small cargo loads that you get if you manage to keep them intact? Raw resources like Tritanium or Uranium, maybe with the rare processor and such. It doesn't necessarily need to be full salvage or being able to sell the ship (though it'd be nice)
You also don't have to wait until your crewmember has arrived on the ship - after you confirm the crew transfer, you can immediately dismantle everything but the last crew quarter, then abandon the ship again (and salvage that crew quarter if you desperately need iron).
If I just tell my crew to dismantle it by themselves, I can just hit the x8 speed button and it doesn't feel any longer and takes less effort.
PartDestroyed = 15%
PartSalvaged = 20% <----salvage by player
PlayerPartDestroyed = 50%
PlayerPartSalvaged = 100% <------owned by player
Like it was written elsewehere in the thread, that doesn't apply to ship parts of captured ships. You can try it yourself by capturing a ship and attempting to remove parts: You will have to confirm that you're aware of the reduced resource refund by holding control.
Thanks! I've been searching for the exact settings with no luck for a while. Can't believe I got the answer in a somehow unrelated thread.
