Other games like Cosmoteer?

I generally don't like 2D space games, but Cosmoteer is a neat blend of Space Engineers, FTL, SPAZ, and Rimworld that is a lot of fun. Are there other games that let you build/upgrade your ship and explore the galaxy with a lot of freedom?

Star sector and star valour... ive got them both and both well worth a game... but im liking Cosmo more, the ship degign is better

you actually can design ships and whole factions in starsector, but its not for the faint of heart. There is a lot of things you need to know and how to do it, but theres also a lot of modders who can assist you with virtually everything.(how do i do this etc)

it have less customizability than star valor. game actually easier when you get a hang of it.
