Tracking using Vive Trackers?
Hello,
This app looks like it is great at what it does, but it got me thinking. Do you think any time in the future, you may support the use of Vive's tracker pucks? From a design standpoint, it is really helpful that the trackers indicate the player's hip rotation, making it easy to walk one direction and aim/attack/look another.

Also, with foot trackers, you could interpret foot movement (walking in place) for movement. From a software perspective (I've seen some devs detect walking in place with hip-tracking alone too), the vive trackers are dealt with just like standard controllers. This means the folks out there with a spare controller (due to a dead trackpad or whatnot) could use it for hip tracking.

I understand this might be outside the scope of your product, which I am buying anyway, but I thought I'd mention it.

Hi, I've got NL and a pair of vive trackers, Is their anyway I can get into the beta to try out the new vive tracker locomotion? I plan on using it for Skyrim; I haven't been able to get NaLo the way I want using the hand motion, and want to try it with the trackers.

WiP Test with Pavlov + Knuckles

Note that usually you can sprint, but in this case we couldn't enable it with the Knuckles so we both have sprint disabled. It's probably just matter of fiddling some more with SteamVR input.
That kind of locomotion is perfect for that game...

Awesome!

Have you guys figured out how to enable roomscale motion without activating walk-in-place when moving your feet to move in roomscale?

I thought that was already solved, just by moving in room-scale... Wasn't it?

ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!

PS3 Move controllers are playable and keep orientation properly!

You can attach them to the ankles with a couple of arm phone holders: https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/936084291467954361/75484CF56BDF650BA5EEEBF96DEDB66E8CD932D1/

We'll update the private beta tomorrow to support them. Does any beta tester with trackers have PS Move too?

Next step is roomscale filter. I think it will be easy and will be done tomorrow as well.

After that, a UI that shows tracker status and yaw is imperative. That should make easy to detect common problems with relative trackers.

That's great news, good job guys!

Out of curiosoty, how will the roomscale filter work? Will it filter out walk-in-place locomotion when a button is held down? That seems like a good solution.

It will be automatic (detecting if you're moving vertically or horizontally), but there will be options, to disable detection and/or to use a button to enable. I'm thinking using the touchpad both for enabling (with double-tap sticky) and for reversing direction.

That sounds great! Thanks!

Options like that sounds really good. A reversing direction option would be nice too. But you should also probably have config options to change the buttons. I had problems with Skyrim and the default touchpad options for arm swing walking and ended up just using 1 grip to activate.

The config menu options for that were really appreciated.

Sorry for not updating today. We're trying hard to have a public beta release tomorrow. The PS Move option will be marked as super experimental, it's much less polished than with trackers.

Thanks for the good work! Me and my girlfriend really appreciate the upcoming support for Trackers. My gf can't play Skyrim VR without your tool. Natural Locomotion allows her to walk/run in place reducing the amount of VR-sickness caused by the game. She will love to be able to run and shoot simultaneously with the help of Trackers.

Just bought another license for the tool for myself, so now we both have it. I have done some VR locomotion research, so we have two VR-sets here for testing the tool with Trackers. We will be testing the new beta in pure SteamVR 1.0 environment (wireless Vive), pure SteamVR 2.0 environment (Vive Pro) and probablly also in mixed environment (1.0 + 2.0). We have three older and three newer model Trackers.
