Nalo can convert the controller to tracker temporarily. This can't be used in Sword and Sorcery for some reason the game isn't recognizing it as a tracker, but it is compatible with other games like climbey or VRChat.
There is an official way to convert the controller into a tracker using the tool to flash devices of SteamVR. This is more compatible with all games, but is more complicated and even more if you want to revert it to its original function.
My index controllers I'm using as trackers cannot be used as controllers again, but they still track. I'm having issues where the Steam VR menu will randomly pop up or passthrough will turn on. Do you know why this issue is happening? if not, do you have the method to permanently alter the controller like you describe? because I am running into a lot of issues.
