Nalo feet always been working like this. Your feet mark the direction of the locomotion (which is even better than hip only). If you use two joycon or ps3move on feet you can use a smartphone or a vive tracker in the pocket to calibrate the direction with the hip direction, but quick rotations are detected with the feet sensors. It took us 1 year to perfectionate it at this level.
In the case of using 2 smartphones or 2 vive trackers in the feet, the hip tracker is not even required.
Nalo even detects the locomotion direction with the movement of the first step while turning which is faster more immersive and intuitive than wait to the hip rotation movement
This is what i'm trying to figure out too, I think it's possible but it would require unbinding the arm swing or feet movement and then have it somehow take over for joystick input.
I also think that our locomotion system is very immersive, fun and could be a good alternative for Decamove without compete between us. In fact we want to add support to Decamove as a official tracking device to our software for walk in place.
In my opinion armswing and walk in place locomotion are not only helping to reduce motion sickness. It also makes the VR experience pretty much immersive and fun.
We are developing a game and the first thing we did was the locomotion system. We liked it so much that regular joystick locomotion was no longer immersive for us.
This happened 1 month before the launch of Skyrim and... we planned to create the joystick emulation app to make Skyrim playable with our system (initially for us only).
We finally launched our app and there are thousands of people that also like it! :D
After a year of work we launched the feet mode which I think is the most immersive locomotion system for VR so far.
This is where we're coming from by the way.
If we launch this feature we are literally targeting the same market: People without vive trackers (or lighthouse devices) because it would work with a simple free app running in a smartphone.

This also would work with vive trackes but it is not required.
Launching this feature wouldn't take us more than 1 day of development. We have everything done! The tracking app, the joystick emulation driver, even the locomotion direction correction algorithm using hip direction (currently used for walk in place mode).
But we don't want to throw all the decamove work to the trash only to win a few bucks. We think their effort is awesome and they will push VR forward with its philosophy.
We really think decamove is great and could be also used with our software making both better.
