Natural Locomotion

Natural Locomotion

Suggestion: differentiate locomotion direction and head direction
So, I've managed to make Feet tracking work with Joycons and a phone. It works quite well, and it's very fun!

However, I was disappointed to see my direction still changes when I turn my head. I was hoping the "body direction" wouldn't move when I just turn my head.

Is there a way you work something out for that? If we can't disable "follow head direction", maybe you can at least compensate for it?

Basically, I think you could literally make something similar to the hip tracking of the Decagear. Since you already have a compass for the body direction, now all you have to do is prevent head (and hands) direction from affecting our direction.

That would be very cool. You've already done an amazing job!

(Or maybe I'm doing something wrong, and the body direction shouldn't be affected when I turn my head?)

This is not how it is supposed to work. The movement direction is being read from the phone (in the pocket). The head direction is only used to calibrate drifting of the joycons if you are not using a smartphone in the pocket.

What game did you used? Is the game directin set to head in the in-game settings? (it is required to make NaLo compensate it with the hip direction).

Oh, so it is an issue then, alright!
I tried it in Minecraft (Vivecraft). It's set to head in-game (I always use the head).
I'll do some more tests this week.
