Natural Locomotion

Natural Locomotion

NaLo vs KAT loco system
I just received my kickstarter Kat loco system and its pretty cool. Their method for moving backwards is to put one foot behind with toe down and heel up. Any chance we could see something similar for NaLo?

We tried a few things but without success. We are continuing to work on other NaLo features while waiting for Kat Loco developers to improve the software of their device.

It seems WalkOVR is a great alternative to KatVR... similar concept, but different way of knowing where the different nodes are. Any chance you guys will look into this?

Quick P.S.: From what I can gather after an hour with Kat Loco, the Sensors would be good, but even with tweaks the software is a far cry from what Natural Locomotion does with arm swinging. It’s laggy and wonky and simply doesn’t feel like what you’re doing is translated into the game. I do hope that either the software improves or others find ways of making use of the sensor data, because my first impression is that like this it would have been a waste of money.

The Virtuix Omni has the exact same issues. If we could only use foot trackers as feet (not marching in place), I think it would fix both devices!

In other words, I want to walk in the treadmill, and every time I move my foot backwards in contact with the surface, have NALO move me forward.

I've tried strapping into the Omni, but with the trackers on I still have to march in place, and yes, that's with room filter off (and on, tried it both ways I believe. It's been a while).

You guys could revolutionize Trackers+Omni and may be even become an OEM driver!

Willing to work for code :)

We are now working in a new locomotion mode: Swinging feet (like hands but with feet) it could work with Omni!

We hope it can be released for the next week.

Oh, that would be great!

One can hope in time for HL Alyx! But next week sounds great in any event. I still haven't finished Skyrim or Fallout :)

Let me know if you need the input from the ring. They released the low level code so I could give you a driver that would help calculate front/backwards movement. I mean, I'm sure you can get the code too, just not sure if you have an Omni, I forget.

Sorry to Necro, but for whatever reason both Kat Loco and Virtuix Omni software sucks. NALO shows you how it should work.

It will be on time. We are about to release it.

Kat just released a new version fo their software (Kat Gateway). Does that help in making it work with Nalo?

I didn't tried it, but thanks you for your notice. I'll check it

Shaiulud, have you tried the new software? Does it improve things?

Any update on this? I've recently purchased a Loco and have the same question.
