Difficulty option shortcomings

I've really been enjoying this game, and my review shows that.

However, I am of the opinion that this game has two difficulty settings. They're labeled "dream" and "nightmare", but they're actually "easy" and "tedious".

In dream mode, I beat the Maid on maybe my second run. Too easy, and I doubt that was the intended rate of advance. But nightmare mode wasn't much harder. It was just more boring.

On nightmare mode, I spent more time grinding up daughters for healing than I spent actually advancing the game. It wasn't harder, just more boring. I hate grind. I hate it passionately. Ok, so that's incentive to min/max and play perfectly so your daughters don't take damage. Except half of their worthwhile abilities cost health, guaranteeing that you'll have to grind up a daughter of equal level every couple fights even if you play *perfectly*.

I'd be happy with the game being harder than nightmare mode if it was just less monotonous. Grinding out levels just for healing is not fun.

Maid is too easy anyway, many players miss the SD bc of that.

I don't know you think "many" is, but we know for a fact it's less than 1.5% of players. Likely, it's significantly less.

That does not mean Maid is difficult. It means people were stonewalled by Deacon or got bored of the grind.

That's my problem right now. I want to keep playing but I don't have time in my life to grind grind grind grind. And the Deacon is brutally difficult, so getting up the will to grind up to fight him more than once is just beyond me. I don't really want to start entirely over and play easy but I'm strongly considering it because otherwise I don't see myself continuing.
