UPPERS
Game does not work for me
Hi. I purchased Uppers right when it was released back in 2020, but I had never even tried to start the game until now (May/2022), and to my disbelief, I just found that it does not work.

When I start it, a loading bar shows up, load to the end, then the "Checking system file" message shows up for a fraction of a second, then immediately the screen goes blank and the game just closes. Fullscreen, windowed, V-sync enabled, not enabled, full resolution, half resolution... I have tried everything and it just does the same thing, no error messages or anything, the program just closes.

I'm on an updated Windows 10 system. What could possibly be the cause? Anybody else experiencing the same?

Thanks.

I can't say how this works to fix the crashing issue on PC... but for the *Steam Deck* try this:
1)Go to your LIBRARY, click on game to go to the Launch page.
2)to the right, find the *gear* icon (configuation tab). Click it & choose *Properties*
3)Go to Compatibility, check box then choose 7.0-3
4)Exit, then hit PLAY-- but BEFORE you hit that *Launch* button , hit *default* first ( tab from left)
Hope it helps.

Thanks mooncat, but there is not such option ("Compatibility") on the PC Steam client. I appreciate your attempt to help though.

I cannot believe this game is not playable on PC.

I just wanted to say, I upgraded my system completely (not because of this game obviously); new motherboard, new video card, reinstalled Windows, etc. and now it is working. I don't know why, though.

I know this is a year and a Half thread, but I just had this issue happen to me, and once I ran it as an Admin, it worked. So just in case for the future for someone to try!

This solved it for me after a year searching for a solution.
How did you discovery it?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The folder route to install "OpenAL" is "SteamFolder"\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\OpenAL\2.0.7.0( maybe this changes with versions)

Run the installer that you found on that folder and there you are.

Hey yall, when i start the game, it either freezes after the loading bar after startup and only plays audio, or the game doesnt register any input from keyboard or pad, and then freezes after some time. I dont know what to do honestly.
