(I got a few thousands games/books/movies to play/read/watch in the meantime ;p)
Here is how one developer (of an AMAZING game, Super High Ball: Pinball Platformer) dealt with the issue successfully:
"I have just checked the plugins in Unreal Engine, Occulus VR and Steam VR were actually activated, I am not sure why and when this happened, but I have now disabled them, and it will hopefully fix this minor issue :)"

This is not a successful solution.. we want VR to be implemented and enabled!! :)
Run this shortcut in SteamVR will start the game in VR. However the menu and OSD are broke. But not affect the gameplay.
