Tacking and gybing with the asymetrical
How do I tack and gybe with the asymetrical correctly?
Do I have to douse the sail with the snuffer before the maneuver?
What would be the real-life suggestion?

You wont be tacking with the spinnaker up since you will only be going downwind. To gybe, first sheet the main all the way to center before you cross the wind so the boom doesn't flip over violently, then turn the stern through the wind. The main and asymetrical will flip, let the main back out and cleat it off. Run back to the asymmetric sheet, and sheet in the asymmetric on the other side till it stops flapping.

Thanks! Much appreciated!

No problem. It's really no different than gybing with the jib. Just let it flip over and sheet in on the other side. The tackline on the forward port winch is then used to adjust the shape of the sail. Sheet when running, ease when on a beam reach.

Thanks. I thought the tutorial instructed to sheet the tack line on a beam reach and ease it when running?

I'm sorry yes you're right I typed it wrong. Bigger sail when running, flatter when reaching.

Will do when I get better at it. Currently, the races really tense me up haha

You and me both! But they're still a lot of fun. =) And, eventually, you'll get a little more used to it, haha.

Don't be afraid to jump in some races, though, when you're able to. You can even go in early and get some practice in! If you're worried about messing anyone else up by running into them or something, you could always take it easy and stick to the back/stay out further away from others, let your crew handle things automatically, and just be there for the fun of it! =)

My asymmetric was up when I started and I don't want to use it. There is lots of information on using etc. BUT I just want to put it away for now and there is nothing on doing that. Can anyone help please.

Yeah, just ease the snuffer line a bit, then haul it back. That should trigger a prompt which should allow you to stow the asymetric.

Thanks for that skocko76. Now sorted and I have practised using it and stowing. Jim
