Title says all. Some of you probably know this theme from fighting games, talking about how good or bad each playable character is. Well, I'm doing the same for this game (but it's my personal bias). I will note which character is from which map, but in order of character appearance. (1 is Tudor Mansion, 2 is Classic Mansion, 3 is Hollywood Studio, etc. A single I represents the Internationals set.)

Why are are they tiered in groups of favorites, though? Is it their appearance? Because no character has an advantage over another character, as far as having stats like STR, DEF, INT that give them an edge in certain situations or on certain maps.

I could understand if you played a Sherlock character and they give him extra clues , or a vampire character that plays worse on 5/8 maps, for example, but as it stands, there isn't something like that.

I mean, your guess isn't ENTIRELY wrong. It's more about character DESIGN rather than APPEARANCE, and how well Marmalade executed each one.

Ok I understand that aspect then.

As I was playing the game, I did think about if there was an anime theme, and the characters would be drawn in that kind of anime style. I guess that would be the design of the characters, similar to all the different design styles that Street Fighter characters have been drawn in.
