unable to use the "play with friends" mode

sometimes i just cant access the "play with friends" mode which is very annoying, sometimes i cant enter the game or sometimes i enter the lobby but i just cant choose the character, but i can still access the "play online", please help figure out the situation, thank you!

You can't choose a character until the host has locked the lobby (i.e. it is closed to new players). This is by design. Is this what you're experiencing? If it's something else, can you provide more steps to help me understand the problem?

What happens in this case? The "Play With Friends" option is greyed out? Or, you can join a lobby, choose a character, the game starts to load, but fails? More steps, and when/how the game fails would be very useful for us.

Also, details on who you are trying to play with might also help us. Are you all definitely on the most recent version of the game? What devices are you and your friends using (e.g. are you on PC, they're on iPhone 6?). If your friends are OK with you sharing the info, it would also be useful if we knew the name that is displayed for them in-game (if on Steam, it will be their username; if on mobile, it will be something like HappyPanda123). Then we can look at server logs to see if we can see what's going wrong.
