Game crashes when trying to change resolution

anybody knows how to fix this?

Open cod4 multiplayer from the steam apps folder and run it as administator. Worked for me

Got is sorted for Raider GE76 Deluxe Edition with ntel® Core™ i9 Processor and Nvida Geforce RTX and 32 gb ram.
1. right click on iw3mp property and disable full screen optimisation on compatibility
2. Click run as windows 8 compatibility mode
3. right click on iw3sp property and disable full screen optimisation on compatibility
4. Click run as windows 8 compatibility mode

The game will now run in any screen resolution.
