COD 4 on a LAN with friends...HELP
Tried to run a LAN server for some 1 vs 1 with my son using MODwarfare setup. When i set dedicated server to NO the server doesnt appear on the server browser for him. And when i set to LAN it boots me to a console. Which i then have to start up another COD 4mp to join this server which has nothing unlocked. My son can see this server with this method and we can play together but I am sure that I was at a LAN party many years ago and this wasnt required and we had everything unlocked whe we played.

I have searched the web but dont know how we were playing like we did at that LAN party.

Anyway any advice is appreciated.

Start a server up (a public one). Then tell your son to join via /join IP

yeah but we have done lan as well. even wirelessly. did you make sure to change it to lan? there are 3 settings, dedicated servers, lan and favorites

Forward the ports on your router for COD4.
