The problem is that on the servers there are always players using cheats to win every game. Instead of playing with cheating people, I use PeZBOT, which is a mod where you can play against bots in multiplayer.

The only server I saw people blatantly cheat is in COD 4 server, because this game does not have any anticheat nowadays, some servers that don’t have their own anticheat can have many cheaters

tbh you don't even need cheats with this game in core mode, but i guess people just don't have basic mechanics lmao. just get 3 kills, a UAV while running stopping power and deep impact and any one-two shot kill rifle, and nobody will be safe. no matter what cover they're behind.

I need to buy a new copy,, as my disc is damaged. Will the currently available Steam version allow me to join the servers I have been using in this game over the years? I know the remastered version is limited to like 4 maps I think. Thanks for any help.

yes active servers. you will find a server that will downgrade you and will play cod4x. thats the only way for multiplayer. when u start game it'll be 1.8 i think and when u find a server find ones that look like they have 60 players and join then it will downgrade game so you can play other servers. i play about 5 main servers that are all snd, tdm, and map vote

the issue at hand is that most all of these servers have some kind of mod that does affect the gameplay or literally is just one filled to the brim with bots, and it's impossible to filter them out because the game was never created with an option for AI players.

Re V1.8 server access issues--I found videos on Youtube saying to download a small file called iw3mp, and then replace the file of the same name in the game directory with the new one. A video I watched provided a download link for the correct file. Has anyone tried this with success? Comments on YT indicated that it does work.

yes ive done that as well and doesnt offer much servers compared to if you just downgrade to the 1.7 cod4x. the cod4x servers typically ran better for me performence and ping wise. most of those servers have map vote too and extra gameplay features. I know which video your referring to.
