Awaiting Challenge...

I just redownloaded for the first time in forever and when I go to join a server I just get stuck indefinitely at the "awaiting challenge" screen as it counts up. I downloaded and extracted the pb files from lpl, didn't change anything. Any ideas?

Neither the site nor the servers that provide it through the master list were working.
Cod4x shouldn't require a guide unless it directs people to a link to the patch, at which point you would simply drop the folder into the main directory after downgrading to 1.7.

many people do not know how to install it, as a result, they cannot fix most of the errors and find the servers

I look at the Steam discussions every day and most people have errors with entering the game since they do not have the CoD4x installed.

Yet most of the servers redirect the player to the Cod4x and downgrade files, unless they're playing the regular servers still active.

Yes. The server was down, hence no redirection to said files. It's back to being functional again, so all they need to do is connect to a CoD4x server.

not all cod4x servers install the patch. they say to visit the site and download manually

If one were to click on "#players" in the server list, the ones with the most people would be the CoD4x servers. They would even be named as such. Since the CoD4x server site is back up, players should simply find the most populated server and use it to download the patch with the downgrade.
