Rank reset

So I was playing the other day, played a match, ranked up to 7 or something. Come back to it today, level one. Cant create a class or anything. Possible PunkBuster thing or something more?

Rank files are stored locally, so something must have been changed on your end.

But would punk buster have something to do with it? It says errors with it. Or is that just the norm for this game?

Not sure why this happens, but it happens more often. It may have something to do with Punkbuster yes, as stats are bound by id, which is bound by Punkbuster.



Anyways install Cod4X, i'm sadly not allowed to link it. Google for it and search for the IceOps website. It'll fix the problem, at least it did for me.

I think the problem was the game crashed after that match ened, so it may not have saved it. Works fine as of right now.

It just happened to me and i manage to recover my stats. I lost them while doing a file cache integrity check.

Here's what i did.
1) Go to *\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 4\players\profiles\PROFILE NAME
2) You should see 2 files, mpdata and mpdata.corrupt
3) Rename mpdata to mpdataold
4) rename mpdata.corrupt to mpdata
5) Start Cod 4 through your steam library
6) If it start to install punkbuster, just hit update and close when it crashed (PB not supported anymore)
7) Game start and my stats were back

Have you eventually been on a cracked/hacked server?
It could come from the punkbusterservice, which had reset or deleted your profile and your progress, cause it thought you were a hacker
