LAN-Party and online

I want to make a LAN-Party in the near future, but I am the only one who has got CoD 4 - so would it be illegal/a ban-reason if my friends and I all install the game with my key-code and then play all together online on a server? We would all be in the same homenetwork...

First of all yes it is illegal.

Secondly you can't play with the same keycode on 1 server. You can however play on different servers with the same key at the same time, it's still illegal though.

Too be fair the cracked client is being used on LAN party's all the time, of course I recommend your friends to buy the game however, you will have more servers to play on that way.

ok to clearify. if doing a lan party you can download the game to each computer. and then set up a game. in fact you can do this with laptops and wireless. did this in the army. going onto servers though only 1 person with the key can get online at a time. so the downside would be if you download to each friends computer to lan party. and don't delete the cd key. they can then go home and get online. if they are online before you are, then you cant get on.

I would personally buy 2 copies just for this reason. one that has your own key code for yourself and the other that you don't care about.

for going into servers. not really sure what the rules are for that. especially sense the whole family sharing thing is out there from steam.

I believe there is a way to do it as I have seen brothers or friends in the server together with the same guid and ip.

but it must be in the same server. not sure how they do it either. never cared to try it.

Installing the game on multiple PCs is not illegal.

Using the same key on multiple PCs is not illegal, but you just could play on cracked servers (google cod 4 private servers)

Downloading the game is illegal (copyrighted material)

So: if you have a CD copy of the game, you could install it on multiple PCs and play on cracked servers, which is, as far as my knowledge goes, not illegal and possible.
