Go to the Options menu in COD4.
Under Video Settings, ensure the resolution is set to your monitor's native resolution (e.g., 1920x1080 or 1366x768). If it’s set too low, it might result in a small screen.
Make sure the aspect ratio is correct (16:9 or 16:10, depending on your display).
If the game is stuck in a small window, try toggling between full-screen and windowed mode.
You can do this by pressing Alt + Enter when in the game to switch between windowed and full-screen modes.
Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. You can update them through the Device Manager on Windows or by visiting your GPU manufacturer's website (NVIDIA or AMD).
Sometimes launching the game with specific parameters can help. To do this:
Right-click the game in your Steam Library or on the desktop shortcut.
Select Properties and then Set Launch Options.
Enter one of these commands:
+fullscreen to force full-screen mode.
+windowed to start in windowed mode.
Close any unnecessary programs running in the background, as these might be consuming resources, leading to the laggy cursor.
Right-click the COD4 shortcut or executable (usually located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare).
Go to Properties > Compatibility tab.
Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select Windows XP (Service Pack 3) or Windows 7.
Apply the changes and try running the game again.
If nothing else works, try reinstalling COD4. Sometimes corrupted files can cause these types of issues.
