[URGENT] I GET RANDOM LAG SPIKES EVERY 10 - 15 SECONDS!

On nearly every single game I play like Gmod or cod4 I get random lag spikes every 10 - 15 seconds, it's nothing to do with my pc however I think it may be something to do with my internet, I will be playing then a few seconds later it will send me back a few steps and everything freezes for 3 seconds then goes back to normal until another 10 seconds later when it repeats! I need help badly as it affects all games from minecraft to cod :/ thanks guys :p

Network, It's just like a small freeze for 3 seconds that happends every 10 seconds, it's hard to play tdm when you stop for 18 seconds every min :(

Sure it's not computer? Had similar problem playing black hawk down. Hard drive was a 5400 rpm drive. Game worked fine once I installed to a 7200 rpm hard drive.

Does it only do this on multiplayer or does it do it single player as well?

I'm absolutly sure it's not the computer, I have a gtx 770 and 8gb's of ram, it can run games like minecraft at 700fps :/

Yeah because great specs will run all games. Not always. Can have issues just from not updating drivers.

Can still overheat as well. There are many things that just because you run higher specs then the game needs that can still cause problems.

Again what about single player? Or set up your own game and see if you still get the lag.

I try private matches to test out mods and weapon skins, if I say there is no lag I mean that I turn on fraps or benchmark the game I'm using and it tells me I'm doing fine with FPS...

Yeah but again you don't get spikes playing single player or in your own game? When you get these does your ping go way up?

I do not get these lag spikes on single player or on private matches...And my ping stays low as I have stated previously....

Never stated your ping stays low during the spikes. Why I asked.

Not sure then. A lot of times a lag in game usually with drop your fps down and/or you will see your ping go up. Sometimes even a connection error.

And causes can be hard drive going bad, not updating drivers, overheating, others using wifi and downloading movies, playing games or uploading.

Or server.
