333 fps!
Hi guys, I bought COD 4 recently. To be more competitive (jumping higher), I have tried to change the fps in the console (com_maxfps 333) with no success. Am I doing something wrong? I have a Mac Pro from 2010 High Sierra. Many thanks!

com_maxfps 333 doesn't work for you?
do you have vsync on in options or something like that?
Thanks for the quick reply. I have tried the com_maxfps 333 without success. I don't know were to see if vsync is on. I searched in the options... I have a Mac Pro laptop from 2010 High Sierra. I guess I will search for it. Thanks

Wait... what? You don't need triple figure framerate to be good at the game dude.

did you find vsync option and turned it off?
i think that should solve the problem.

btw, the Vsync option is called "sync every frame" at graphics settings of CoD4, just for reminding.

also, CoD 4 (several other CoDs before and after it, as well) uses a heavily modified version of id tech 3, the engine of quake 3. that's why some fps values such as 125, 200 and 333 are known to give certain advantages to the players. if somebody caps it at one of those, and able to keep a stable fps; jump height is what's known to be affected most by that. back in the day, some people used to do out-of-map glitches thanks to it. iirc, things like footstep sounds are also affected on high fps values (200+), and it might be confusing for enemies with headsets in multiplayer matches.

I found it, it was turned of already, so the problem was not solved. Don't worry and thanks once again.

yeah, I'm not sure if @Meat lover tested it in a listen server created on his PC, or joining a dedicated server and tested there. but some (I guess most, if not all) servers can indeed restrict the use of such high fps values; just like some other servers can also restrict the use of very high FOV values, as well. server-sided modifications can prohibit these kind of attempts, even when a player successfully edits the config file on his PC.

/com_maxfps 333 in console

also make sure /r_vsync is set to 0

I play in a server were most of the best players are playing with those values. But for some reason my jump stays the same even if in the console I have changed to: com_maxfps 333 and the sync is NO
