First, having CoD 4X is a good thing, as it fixes many of the issues left behind from IW. It removes download bandwidth cap, keeps people from stealing your CD key, fixes the crash due to audio bug, and others. So this is a very good thing.
Second, it does not do anything to your stats. Not sure why you cant load a 55 save unless youre trying to cheat and just boost yourself. If that is the case and the software you have is stopping you from cheating then that is a good thing.
More likely you downloaded some kind of mod, but it has nothing to do with CoD 4X.
Also, uninstalling is as easy as can be. Go into your Cod4 installation folder, remove mss32.dll and steam_api.dll, and rename miles32.dll to mss32.dll. This'll return your game back to 1.7.
However, as thekillingcrew.com said, having Cod4 X is a GOOD thing!
