Cracked servers...

Making it a bit simple here. I bought this game. Only Cracked servers showing up, what should I do?

See if your Punkbuster is working fine, and try looking for a new ''servercache.dat'' file to replace the old one. I dont know if I can post links here, but apparently this one works.

Just replace this file in the cod4 folder, should be fine.

Do not replace the servercache.dat, it's a stupid method which doesn't even work properly. It shows wrong servers and with the masterserver now working gets overwritten again anyway.

How exactly can you see a server is cracked? Except for the fact you can join it with a cracked client, there should be no way to see it.

I really don't know if these are actually cracked servers..But what happens is this. Before I had more than 5000 servers showing up..Later that only 162 servers.

That is because you installed Cod4 X. Either from a server running it or manually. However you did it, you got prompted for it and you could deny it, just to make clear.
Cod4 X (still) uses their own masterserver instead of the official one, as the official one was down for a while. They are going to change it back, they just haven't yet.

After experiencing the original masterserver today (I had a development version of Cod4 X with the Activision masterserver restored), I really want to go back to the Cod4 X one. The official masterserver is full of redirects, it's really annoying.

I joined a server running Cod X and now my Cod 4 is always running it even if im not launching any mods with it, how can I remove Cod X ?

and btw, does anyone know where can I find good vanilla CoD 4 servers that don't run any annoying mods on them ?

Always running? What do you mean? Either run "/quit" in the console (press "~" to open it) or press exit in the main menu. There is no way Cod4 X makes your game behave like that.

About the no mods stuff, sadly no. I'm hoping Cod4 X will find a way to filter out all server-side modded servers using the in-game filter someday...
