Modern Warfare 3 - Dedicated server

When I'm playing COD4 mp that ♥♥♥♥ appears to my friends like if I was playing that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ instead of this genuine piece of art. Anyone know whats it, how to solve it?

I'll try to explain myself better.

I start COD4 mp as everyone does. In the friendlist appears I'm playing "Modern Warfare 3 - Dedicated server" instead. And in my steam profile seems like I have spend 2 hours in MW3 while I was in fact playing COD4. How's it?

Open ur task manager . kill ur steam then open it again or try to search it on task manager and kill the mw3 dedicated server

Just kill the game process using task manager or try to restart ur pc i hope will work mate :) srsly 100% will work if u try to kill the process using task manager .

I have unninstalled it and actually installing it back again, if that ♥♥♥♥♥ still goes on I'll try what you said.

Guys seriously, please do SOME RESEARCH! This so-called "issue" has been asked multiple times before, I wonder why you guys even care.

The game showing up as MW3: Dedicated server is because you have CoD4 X installed. It's their method of enabling more Steam integration, even for players without the Steam version of the game. It showed up as "In-Mod" before, but that started to crash the game in Steam beta, so they had to revert it to this.

thx man. I do have the same problem too. I noticed that after I reinstalled the game it shows "Call of Duty 4-Multiplayer", but after I installed cod4 x it changed to "Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 - Dedicated Server"

I believe you're using a modded version of Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare. Try revalidating your game, then start playing normally.
