Was Jackson originally suppose to survive?
Heard somewhere that he was suppose to locate someone who would help him get out of the area. Is this true?

No. Jackson died. What you may have seen on other sites are just rumours.

I know he is dead. I am talking about original plans for him, because in the mission "aftermath", where he dies, in the game files exist 3 unused objectives:

-Get radiation equipment
-Locate the commanding officer
-Find secure overhead cover

This is proof to me that he was originally supposed to survive, but the devs changed this in the final version

Ok sorry.
Well, if I'm honest, those 3 objectives that weren't used don't make much sense to them:
- Get radiation equipment. For what? After the fall of the helicopter, why is that going to be obtained, when in the end sooner or later Jackson will die from the radiation left by the bomb when it exploded.
- Locate the commanding officer. This objective does not make sense. They've all died, who are you going to locate? It's logic.
- Find secure overhead cover. Yeah, I'm sure Jackson will find her.
He should survive, that could have been the intention of the developers, but I think you have to be a bit realistic and think better what the fate was for this soldier.

Yes, he was supposed to survive. But that part got cut when the devs decided to also remove the other USMC missions where you play as other characters.

Who knows, maybe the entire concept for the mission was different

yeah he was supposed to survive, but at this point in the game's story it felt like the narrative was going to ♥♥♥♥ so i guess they did the nuke thing and killled Jackson for the narrative to make more sense. In fact in leaked prototype versions of the game there is almost an entire act worth of campaign with USMC. And by the way, even tho there are theories floating around about Jackson somehow surviving, there is no doubt about the fact that Jackson did die, as in the briefing for "Safehouse" the screen reads out:

Sgt. Paul Jackson
STATUS: KIA

this means that he is confirmed dead, if he wasnt confirmed dead it would say "MIA" instead of KIA

The name of the nuke level is "Shock and Awe" (with "Aftermath" afterwards). It wouldn't feel as shocking or surprising to the player if the main character (Sgt. Jackson) somehow managed to get out and survive despite his entire squad and everyone else around him died.

The only realistic way they would have got out is if they hadn't stopped to rescue the pilot, they would have had more time to get out and be outside the blast zone.
