Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007)

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007)

Single Player (iw3sp.exe) is running version 1.0, why?
I've been messing around with COD, installing custom missions/maps and playing modded servers. I just don't understand how SP reverted to version 1.0 and how do I play the latest version of SP with the least bugs? If you guys have an iw3sp running the latest version, can you give me a link to it pls

unlike multiplayer, there's no visible version number at main menu of CoD4 single-player, but when opening developer console, it says 1.0 and I suppose that's what you mentioned. I never used any custom content since I installed CoD4 on my current PC, and it's the same version number for me. steam always downloads the most up-to-date version of games; so I believe 1.0 is possibly put there just for an obscure reason, or maybe forgotten to correct by devs back in the day. there's no need to worry, because we're playing the entire game with all of the official patches applied. I think it's pretty safe to say that custom mods for CoD4 don't downgrade the OG campaign in any way.

I appreciate your help, can you just give me your iw3sp file so I can see if it changes because I remember it being up to date before i installed the aces mod

you can try deleting the iw3sp.exe file manually, and then verify integrity of game files, so that steam would put a brand-new one to same directory, once the file validation is done.

SP does not have a version higher than 1.0

its because theres no reason for respawn to have updated the singleplayer part of the game past 1.0 since there wasnt any game breaking bugs well there is but they are very rare, that said the latest patch iirc is 1.8 for some reason on pc when both ps3 and xbox 360 are still 1.7 for the multiplayer part of the game(which is where all the remaining quality of life went to since not alot of people played singleplayer so why would they bother supporting it back in 07/08)

:steamthis:

the latest version for CoD4 MP is still v1.7 for those who play with retail DVDs (non-steam). the reason of CoD4 MP on steam being at v1.8 is; devs released a little patch several years ago, to remove the obsolete anti-cheat (PunkBuster), which has also divided the playerbase between steam and non-steam users (until a custom mod named "CoD4X" arrived).
