i cant change the graphics
i bought this game for a bit of nostalgia since i saw it was on sale, but now i refuse to play it as when i try and change any of the graphics the game windows out and freezes my whole pc. it isnt my specs as i have run far more demanding games but for some reason i cant change any graphics settings, e.g. resolution is stuck at 640x480 aspect ratio is stuck at 4:3 i cant turn on anti aliasing, i cant change anything no matter how small or it windows out and freezes.

ive seen other discussions but no one seems to understand whats going on,, please someone help.

same, can't configure stuff unless i go into the files and even in the files i can't get everything like anti aliasing. hell when i use a mod to join a modded game (like galactic warfare) i can't join because the same thing will happen

in windows10, Find the single-player and multi-player startup files for the game installation files, right-click after selecting them, find the properties, and click to select Disable Full Screen Optimization.

i figured it out, if you right click on the game in your library, then browse local files, you should see IW3SP(singleplayer) and IW3MP(multiplayer) right click whichever one you want, go into properties and then disable full screen optimization

I just installed this game on my new (to me) PC , it has a 6 gb video , 6 core 8800 CPU and 16 gigs of ram , Windows 10 Home ..... the game works fine on my older (still Win 10 , but Pro) PC with 4 core 4400 CPU , 12 gb ram and 2 gb video , I can set everything to Extra for graphics on it , but with this new one that is much faster and newer , I can only get "Low and Normal" settings , no higher , the PC is fresh , the game install is fresh with the 1.7 patch (all done last night) , I tried setting the Disable Full Screen Optimization box as mentioned above , and it still only gives me Normal for the highest graphic setting .... is there a "fix" or workaround ??? ..... Any info would be appreciated .... Thanks ... Jim

if you're talking about certain graphics options (number of dynamic lights, model detail, water detail), the highest available setting is called "normal" for them anyway, regardless of system specs. that's how Infinity Ward designed and named them back in the day, so there are no hidden graphics options.

if you're talking about quality level sliders seen on texture settings, then I have no idea why the game doesn't apply the changes, but if (for some reason) you've previously set either or both config files as read-only, it might be because of that.
